Hi, my name is Eric Wang

About Me

I am a third year undergraduate student at Yale University, studying Computer Science and earning a certificate in Data Science. I have a strong passion in anything in the field of AI, machine learning, and computer vision, and I want to create apps and tools that benefit people in their daily lives. I am constantly looking for new ways to learn and improve my skills, and I am open for opportunities for projects and internships that can expand my experience to the real world.

Beyond Computer Science, I enjoy playing golf, hiking, skiing, or anything related to the outdoors that gives a great view. Being from just outside of Boston and studying in New Haven, you can often find me exploring or skiing trails up north. Traveling is also a desire of mine, and I would love to move around for work, or just for the sake of adventure.

Fun fact about me: I like to listen to very diverse genres of music! My daily playlists include everything from rap to country music. But maybe not rock yet, I'd have to get used to it.

Experience

Yale University
Aug. 2025 - Present
Undergraduate Teaching Assistant
  • Assisted in the instruction of 60+ undergraduates for mathematical concepts in relation to computer science, such as proofs, discrete mathematics, graph theory, and probability.
  • Lead weekly discussion sections and office hours to help guide students through problem-solving strategies applicable to algorithms and computational thinking.
  • Develop student mastery of core computer science material through clear feedback on assignments and preparation of supplemental material.
APOLLO Lab
Mar. 2025 - Present
Undergraduate Research Assistant
  • Implement a 3-D reconstruction algorithm in Python for endoscopic surgeries given limited access to camera poses.
  • Partner with post-doctorate researchers to integrate real-time 3-D reconstruction for dynamic environments
  • Utilize Gaussian Splatting, a computer vision technique, for fast rendering of 3-D visual scenes from surgical videos.
  • Create an optimization algorithm for reconstruction given multiple/single camera poses and intrinsics for robotic arm manipulation.
Code Haven
Feb. 2025 - Present
Computer Science Mentor
  • Instruct a middle school class of 20 students in computer science through coding exercises and project-based learning.
  • Introduce foundational programming concepts using Scratch, fostering problem-solving abilities and knowledge.
  • Collaborate with a group of 25+ mentors to create structured learning plans that balance concepts with hands-on projects.
Yale Community Health Care Van
Jun. 2025 — Aug. 2025
Harm Reduction Intern
  • Managed the input and organization of data for vending machine distribution across New Haven, supplying over 100 syringe kits per week.
  • Assisted the front office in providing clients safe supplies and awareness, keeping track of transactions and protected health information.
  • Migrated raw Excel spreadsheets containing drug information and composition into a structured database to ensure readability and public use.

Projects

Albumized
Aug 2025 - Present
Allow users to input an image and check if it matches a specific album cover. The image-based search system uses deep learning embeddings from a pretrained model, allowing for accurate and efficient matching. FAISS is utilized for fast similarity search and storage of embeddings. Metadata is also extracted from the Spotify API, integrated with JSON and index files that are stored alongside album thumbnails in AWS S3.
Nor'Easter
Oct 2023 — Dec 2023
My first made website. Allows users to search for certain ski resorts located in New England, displaying basic mountain information (e.g., location, elevation, and difficulty level). Users can create a profile and add resorts to a checklist, all being stored in a SQLite database.
